Iran signs a two-year electricity supply contract for Iraq

Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakyanian announced, on Thursday, the signing of a two-year contract to export electricity to Iraq.

This came during the visit of "Ardakanian" to Baghdad, Wednesday, and his meeting with a number of Iraqi officials.

He said in a statement carried by the official Iranian news agency, "IRNA", that "the previous contracts for exporting electricity to Iraq were one year, but this time, we signed a two-year contract - 2020 and 2021".

The Iranian Energy Minister added, "During the visit, Iran received about 400 million dollars, an amount equivalent to half of its dues from selling electricity to Iraq."
